Since many stores, such as this one in Petersburg, Virginia, were in somewhat isolated highway locations, store managers frequently lived on the premises, as exemplified by the manager's residence shown here at the rear of the store. Many Stuckey's were frequently a family affair, with Mom and Dad (and often their teenage children) working in the store.
