I remember so fondly traveling with my grandparents in his black econoline van. I can remember there was not a Stuckeys we past up. The look on my Pawpaws face when he seen a sign for Stuckeys then loudly announced that there was a Stuckeys up ahead. Each time they shopped through one as if it were the first time they had been there. I called my Pawpaw n told him I found this page and the he chuckled and you could tell in the brief moment of silence that he was reminencesing as well. Then I was texting my uncle and asked him if he remembered each time we stopped about the chocolates he would stock up on. Very fond memories of Stuckeys!!!

Stuckeys was my first job I ever had. I was able to go to college back in the early '70's because of them and when I came out of school, I was hired back at the same store as assistant manager and bookkeeper. I held that position until from 1976 to 1996 when the company was sold toanother person who was unfamiliar with the operation but rather wanted the location for gasoline sales. The store is no longer there in it's origional glory as we had many Canadian tour buses that would call ahead on their trips to Florida during the winter months to make sure that we had plenty of pecans (in and out of the shell and pecan meal). We were centerally located in Illinois and we were always busy.

Stuckeys was always our rest stop of choice for family vacations throughout the 70s and early 80s. We always loved stopping for gas and a cold drink. Your souvenir section was always a great hit. I still have fond memories of the Suckeys road map you used to have, where we plotted our next stop on the highway.

Stuckeys has a long lasting, positive memory in my life.

When I was a kid back in 1979.We moved from San fransisco to Boston traveling I-80.There were many Stuckys that we stopped at to eat.We bought my Grandpa a set of bull antlers from a Stuckys gift shop.He was so hard to shop for,we were all surprized when my Grandpa hung the antlers above the kitchen door.We all thought it was pretty wild he liked those so much.He was born and raised in the city of Chicago. He had them up there for 20 plus years until he passed away.

I worked at the Stuckey's on I-40 west of Albuquerque from 1979 to 1980. The diversity among the people who stopped at the store was fascinating - people from all over the globe stopped at Stuckey's. It was great to meet these people.
